Our History - The Objects and Records

It is our ultimate goal to be able to provide our visitors with electronic access to search our collections database, Past Perfect. In order to provide that service we are currently inventorying each item, inputting the data and photographing each object and/or scanning the item. This will take some time. Our database currently lists 5496 objects, 4395 archival records, 13,727 Photograph records (only 9028 with attached images), and 936 books. We have thousands more to add, so we thank you for your patience.

To explore our collection: In person - you may contact us by calling 970-925-3721 ex 103 or emailing archives@aspenhistory.org to make an appointment. To search electronically - two collections are available on line. Pitkin County Newspapers- digitized and on-line, from 1881 through 1925 can be found at www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org 25 hours of local oral histories have been digitized and the transcripts put on-line through a grant from CDP (Collaborative Digitization Program). The electronic pieces of our collection are available with thanks and support from CDP and from partnerships with the PitkinCounty Library and the Aspen Times as well as many generous contributions from local individual support.
